"Ultimate Strike". A rare electrical storm passes through the South Bay on 8/15/08.
As I was awoken by rumbling thunder on the night of August 15th, 2008, I jumped at the chance to possibly capture a rare electrical storm that hit unexpectedly. As three separate thunderstorms collided, hundreds of jagged bolts struck the skies over the ocean before me with no rain nor wind. A perfect recipe for amazing shots and a once in a lifetime adventure for me in my own backyard. The NWS sensors detected 445 cloud-to-ground lightning strikes from midnight to 3 A.M. throughout Los Angeles County that morning.
