First Snowfall. Yellowstone National Park, WY.
While visiting Yellowstone National Park during the early Fall season, I was intrigued by a small heard of elk that was not far from the road. I observed the heard from the car window as the weather was cold and rainy. As temperatures dropped to the low 30's, the air suddenly changed from frozen rain drops to blizzard snow storm conditions. My camera was having difficulty focusing on the bull elk due to the fact the snow flakes were so abundant. I was able to capture one clear shot while still portraying the feeling of winter weather conditions. The snow storm was so heavy that night, the National Park Service closed all roads to and from Yellowstone National Park and we were officially "snowed in" for 24 hours.
