Wyoming Wildlife & Landscapes
As I rolled down the window and pushed out my 70-200 mm lens to photograph this bull elk, we locked eyes. I realized that the bull elk was getting closer and closer because his body no longer fit in my frame. He then began to charge our car with me (and my lens) as the primary target! Luckily the car across from us flashed it's camera and he was distracted from our car. The bull elk changed positions and charged the car next to us. He lowered his rack and had a short fight with their Jeep front grill (the Jeep rocked back and forth) as we watched the passengers scream. This will be the closest I will ever get to a bull elk. I was so scared and shocked I didnt even get a photo of him charging the Jeep. I guess I was scared he was going to come back for me as his second target. Bull elks can sprint up to 45 mph and are very dangerous during "rut" (matting season). Mammoth Hot Springs, Yellowstone National Park.
